I posted last week that I reside in the parish in which a judge recently refused to perform an interracial marriage.  I thought I would give a couple links to what the locals are saying.  HERE and HERE are links to two opinion pieces in our local newspaper The Daily Star.  The really odd thing to me in all of this is that interracial marriage between other groups, say Hispanics and whites (I can think of two instances of this within my family and my wife’s family), seem fairly common and accepted.  But, when it comes to African Americans people in the community are still trying to act like the last 50 or 60 years never happened.
