I’ve been meaning to post this for a while. My wife and I recently went to see the Avett Brothers. It was a great show. It was a small crowd on a Sunday night, but you could tell they just really loved to play music. I’d highly recommend going to see them if they’re ever in your town.
This post gets its title from the start of verse two of the song in the video: “When I drink, I hear things that aren’t really there.” Music starts about a minute in.
Despite the crowd’s cheering at certain spots, the song is really about not wasting your days drinking – as in “when I drink I spend the next day in a haze, and we’ve only got so many days…”
