It frankly doesn’t matter if they are true or not, people will come out of the woodworks. That will boost your Alexa Rank, which is far more important than the truth.
Do you hear that, Joel? That’s the sound of my Alexa Rank juggernauting into outer space…

Hey everyone! Here are the BiblioBlog rankings for this week. I have an idea for a new site to host the rankings, as that is not the purpose of this blog. But, I want to do it well and am trying to elicit help from a few other people. So, please bear with me for a bit. Also, I would like to clean up the list and have some kind of better system for deciding who makes the list (no I’m not talking about anything very formal). So, if you sent me your site last week through a comment, I’ll get to it before the monthly rankings, which are what really matters anyway ;-).

Well, the textual evidence seems to point in that direction. I posted a trial run of the BiblioBlog rankings for this month late Sunday night. And, I got traffic from some interesting search referrals yesterday. Here are a few:
“Satlow” (Whoever did this, I don’t think quotation marks make a difference if it’s one word)
Kind of suspicious don’t you think? There are three possibilities I guess. BiblioBloggers: 1) Are very popular (most doubtful), 2) Search their own names (my best guess), 3) Have stalkers (also doubtful). You decide. I probably would have gotten about 100 referrals for “Joel Watts” but when he googled his name 100 times yesterday he probably didn’t want to click through so as to boost my Alexa ranking …

How To Decide What Makes the BiblioBlog List
I am toying with an idea of how to decide what makes the list of BiblioBlogs. There was some debate about what exactly a BiblioBlog is a while back, and I don’t think that discussion was ever resolved. I could personally make decisions about what is a BiblioBlog and what is not, but I am sure that there is a better way. So, here’s my idea …
Using PollDaddy I can create a simple yes-no survey (takes about 2 minutes) that can be sent by e-mail with the URL of whoever has requested to be on the list. I can compile a list of BiblioBloggers willing to participate in these surveys from time to time. I can e-mail the survey and BiblioBloggers could take a look and all decide. This would certainly not require everyone participating every time, but it would mean that decisions about what belongs on the list is more representative of the BiblioBlogging community as a whole rather than the opinions of one person.
Anyway, I’d like to know what you all think. Do you think this is a good idea? And, would you be willing to participate? Here’s my opinion. We could always give it a try and see if it works. And, if it doesn’t … no harm done. Please comment below.

BiblioBlog Rankings So Far This Month
I will do it … I will do the Biblioblog Rankings
Well everyone, here is a trial run of the new program. The stats are inline in my blog using the Google Docs inline WP plugin. Since this was my first time I think it took a bit longer, but all in all I don’t think the process should take me more than 10 minutes. And, you know what that means …. more frequent updates, though I still think only one month winners should count.
Please let me know if there are any problems viewing. Also, these stats are as of Sunday night, so let me know if they don’t correspond with what is on Alexa for one month stats for you. I spot checked a few and they were correct. At any rate, I thought this would be a fun start to the week…
In addition, if any of you would like to post the stats directly on your site and make your own modifications (like theological leanings, etc.), I don’t care. I’ll send everything to you in an Excel file with the links already inserted. If you could only be so kind as to give a backlink (like – provided by FreeOldTestamentAudio.com), I’d appreciate it.
I’ll also be modifications along the way, so feel free to make suggestions.

There’s a new Biblioblog Top 50 and it has me labeled “orthodox.” Honestly, that’s the first time I’ve been called orthodox in a while, but I’ll take it. I keep trying to tell people that I am, but most of them in my parts don’t believe me. And, since Karyn is labeled “orthodox” too I consider myself in good company. (In case you missed it “consign it to Sheol” is my new euphemism for … well, something else).
I will say this though, what a difference a day makes. My alexa 1 month today is 249,012, which would have been good enough for the #6 slot. I should jump back up though once you academics get back in the classroom and start blogging less …
